Finnish President Alexander Stubb said he does not expect Russia to attack NATO,
calling it "the world's most powerful military alliance," but urged NATO to
prepare for worst-case scenarios. Stubb said Russian battlefield losses have
outpaced recruitment and Moscow may mobilize additional forces this autumn, a
move he warned would carry domestic political consequences. He added that,
Despite Russia’s increasingly complicated position, Moscow is unlikely to end
the conflict solely because of economic hardship and that Russians can tolerate
significant economic pain.
