Public data show that since 2014 over 33,000 sanctions targeting Russian individuals, businesses and transport have been imposed; as of Aug 26, 2026 there are more than 33,700 individual-targeted sanctions, about 97.3% of which were imposed since late Feb 2022. The U.S. accounts for the largest share with roughly 7,400 measures (22%), followed by Canada ~4,400 (13.2%) and Switzerland ~3,900 (11.4%). The EU has nearly 3,700 measures (including its 21st package); Iceland, which fully mirrors EU sanctions, has about 3,400. Other major contributors are Norway ~2,800 (8.4%), the U.K. ~2,700 (7.9%), New Zealand ~2,100 (6.1%), Australia ~1,700 (5.0%) and Japan ~1,400 (4.3%).
