According to Politico, the rise and fall of global political fortunes once fluctuated with gasoline prices. Now, they are increasingly intertwined with monthly electricity bills. This new reality is prompting political leaders in North America and Europe to scramble to curb soaring electricity prices with unprecedented urgency. In the UK, Prime Minister Andy Burnham abolished the electricity tax shortly after taking office at 10 Downing Street. Marine Le Pen, leader of the French National Rally, also wants to cut the electricity tax and withdraw from the European electricity market. In the US, voter anger over data centers potentially driving up electricity prices has forced Pennsylvania's Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro and Texas's Republican Governor Greg Abbott to suddenly impose restrictions on these energy-intensive facilities they had previously strongly supported. This trend is reshaping the political landscape. From progressive Democrats in the US to far-right members of Germany's Alternative for Germany (AfD), populist candidates are using high electricity prices as a political mobilization slogan. Gerald Batz, president of the Eurasia Group, stated that a multitude of macro and micro factors are working together to make electricity far more important than ever before. The prospect of exponential growth in electricity consumption over the next 25 years is a fairly solid bet. Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, and oil prices failed to reach the $150 mark predicted by many analysts. This is a significant macro market signal that oil is no longer as geographically constrained or as indispensable as it once was. Essentially, oil is no longer as valuable as it used to be.

Al Jazeera reported the IRGC's intelligence unit said an adversary, after failing to break the Iranian people's resistance, is resorting to "psychological warfare" to undermine stability. Fars News Agency said Iran is responding by targeting the adversary's command-and-control capabilities and striking groups attempting to foment internal divisions.
