The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said a 5.2-magnitude
quake occurred around 12:04 p.m. local time on Aug. 31 off the coast of Surigao
del Norte, northern Mindanao, at a focal depth of 10 km. The agency said the
event is not expected to cause damage.
