Chinese President Xi held talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Bishkek
on Aug. 31. Xi urged implementation of the governments’ economic and trade
cooperation plan, expanding trade categories and developing digital trade and
cross-border e-commerce. He called for high‑quality construction of the
China‑Kyrgyzstan‑Uzbekistan railway and modernization of border ports, and
deeper alignment of institutions, standards and rules to boost connectivity. Xi
pushed for more flagship projects in renewable energy and resource recycling,
implementation of a green‑minerals cooperation document, and full supply‑chain
collaboration. He also proposed a Belt and Road joint laboratory and stepped‑up
AI and technology cooperation, and sought increased people‑to‑people exchanges
across youth, media, tourism, sports, medical and local channels.
