Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a routine briefing the officer entered the embassy armed with a knife and issued violent threats, calling the episode unprecedented, a serious violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and a grave threat to the safety of Chinese diplomatic staff and facilities.
