Nikkei reports Japan's FY2027 preliminary budget request is expected at about ¥143 trillion on a general-account basis, significantly up from ¥122.4 trillion in FY2026 and a record high. The increase is driven by a newly introduced uncapped growth-investment allocation and an "integrated budget" approach that treats supplementary and initial budgets jointly. ¥143 trillion is roughly ¥2–3 trillion above the combined ¥140.6 trillion of the 2025 supplementary and 2026 initial budgets.
