American AI Build, backed by AI-industry billionaires, has launched a
multi-mln-dollar advertising campaign to blunt rising US public opposition to
new data centers. A survey found 61% of US adults oppose local data centers
construction; concerns cited include higher electricity prices, increased
blackout risk and heavy water use. The group says curbs on data center
investment would cost jobs and weaken US AI competitiveness. Supporters include
venture capitalists Marc Andreessen, Ben Horowitz and OpenAI president Greg
Brockman.
