NHK reports that at the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting
in Asheville, U.S., U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent held separate talks with
Bank of Japan governor UEDA and Japan's finance minister KATAYAMA. Erin Brown,
Treasury deputy for international affairs, said Bessent urged both officials to
clearly communicate Japan's next steps — specifically fiscal sustainability and
a path to rate hikes — and described that as the appropriate policy direction.
