At the close of the morning session, most domestic futures contracts rose, with ethylene glycol (EG) up nearly 8%, methanol up over 5%, bottled chips up nearly 5%, paraxylene and staple fiber up over 4%, and asphalt, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and benzene up over 3%. On the downside, container shipping to Europe fell nearly 6%, palladium and red dates fell nearly 3%, Shanghai silver, live pigs, and apples fell over 2%, and Shanghai gold fell over 1%.
