On Aug. 31 the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said Iran, while respecting neighbors' sovereignty, will not tolerate any aggression and will respond more forcefully to such actions. The statement accused US forces of continuing to use the territory of some regional states — despite those states' formal pledges not to allow strikes on Iran — to attack certain Iranian military facilities, and reiterated that the US must withdraw from the region. It warned that states or actors facilitating US attacks would be targeted and said all branches of Iran's armed forces will act in concert to crush and strike any sources of aggression.
