U.S. battery storage additions reached a record 20.2 GWh in Q2, the Solar Energy
Industries Association and Benchmark Mineral Intelligence said, and full-year
additions are projected at 71 GWh in 2026. SEIA said more than 74% of Q2
capacity was built in states won by Trump in the 2024 presidential election;
Arizona added 6.2 GWh, a single-state, single-quarter U.S. record. One GWh of
storage roughly meets the annual electricity needs of 750,000 U.S. households.
The report said new battery manufacturing plants are entering production in
multiple states, including Ohio, Tennessee and Texas.
