Reports say the US and Venezuela recently reached an oil cooperation agreement
that involves Chinese firms’ oil operations in Venezuela. Foreign Ministry
spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular briefing that Beijing has noted the
reports, stressed state-to-state economic cooperation should follow equality and
mutual benefit, and that China‑Venezuela cooperation is protected by
international law and both countries’ laws. He said China’s legitimate rights
and interests in Venezuela must be guaranteed.
