On Sept 1, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China adheres to the
principle of non‑interference and will not in any way interfere in other
countries' internal affairs, calling comments related to New Zealand baseless.
He said China follows the 'four respects' principle in developing ties with
Pacific island states and has neither interest in nor a history of interfering
in other countries' internal affairs.
