Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said an Indian tanker became a strike
target of U.S. Central Command. The vessel is owned by an Indian company and was
loaded with cargo at a UAE port. CENTCOM used the ship's former name when
issuing a warning; the crew did not realize the message was directed at them and
did not respond. CENTCOM subsequently treated the lack of response as a
provocation and designated the ship a strike target.
