Two sources said India has resumed negotiations with Zambia on potential
investments in copper and other critical minerals. Officials from India’s
Ministry of Mines held preliminary talks with Zambian counterparts on Aug. 26,
one source said. The source added the parties did not discuss a previously
stalled project covering about 9,000 sq km (3,475 sq miles) that Zambia granted
to India last year; Reuters reported in April the talks had stalled after Lusaka
did not provide sufficient assurances on mining rights.
