Federal Reserve Governor BARR said on Tuesday in Washington the Fed should be
prepared to raise rates if inf does not cool. He warned inf has run above target
for more than five years, creating a risk of entrenched price pressures. If
Upcoming data show inflation toward the 2% goal, policymakers can be patient;
if not, he said they should act decisively to raise rates.
