Nvidia (NVDA.O) is in advanced talks to acquire AI startup Hugging Face in a
deal that could total about $14 bln, sources said. One source said Nvidia could
agree as early as this week to buy Hugging Face for about $12.9 bln. The
transaction may include an approximately $1 bln employee retention package.
Sources cautioned no final agreement has been reached and timing and terms
remain subject to change. The deal would be Nvidia’s largest move to date to
broaden AI applications and its customer base and would give the company control
of a key developer platform for sharing and showcasing AI models.
