At the close of the morning session, domestic futures contracts showed mixed results. SC crude oil rose over 9%, container shipping to Europe and ethylene glycol (EG) rose over 5%, methanol rose nearly 5%, fuel oil rose over 4%, low-sulfur fuel oil (LU) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rose over 3%, and benzene rose nearly 3%. On the downside, palladium fell nearly 6%, silver and platinum fell over 4%, lithium carbonate and gold fell over 3%, and TSR20 rubber, tin, and cotton fell over 2%.

On Sept 1 the National Energy Administration said China’s new-type power grid will link upstream renewable generation with downstream industrial and residential demand, creating strong spillovers and requiring large-scale investment that supports near-term investment and long-term structural adjustment. The NEA instructed authorities to speed approval and construction of major grid projects including transmission corridors, strengthen overall coordination of new-grid development, and step up policy support and implementation.
