The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) has launched the second phase of a
Nationwide campaign targeting AI-generated disinformation, violent or obscene
content, impersonation and harms to minors. CAC ordered local internet
regulators to intensify removal of AI-generated illegal content on websites and
mobile apps, investigate and sanction violating accounts and apps, and curb
proliferation of synthetic content. To date authorities say they have removed
about 5.61 mln illegal items, sanctioned roughly 49,000 accounts and taken
action on over 2,400 websites/apps. CAC said it will summarize enforcement
results, monitor new risks from AI-generated content, and take timely measures
to prevent misuse while promoting orderly AI development.
