Iran struck US military targets in Jordan, an action Tehran sees as preparing
its forces for potential strikes on Israel, Mohammad Eslami, a Middle East and
North Africa researcher at Tehran University, said. He said the strikes came
despite warnings from Trump because Iran concluded Washington was not serious
about a diplomatic solution, that Tehran now expects a second, full-scale
confrontation with the US and Israel, and that the earlier phase exposed limits
of US and Israeli force; Iran will respond more forcefully and used the Jordan
attacks to ready its forces should a full war erupt.
