State news agency reported on the 2nd that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
said, in response to a US strike on southern Iran the previous night, Iran fired
heavy ballistic missiles at a US Marine Corps base near the Jordanian port city
of Aqaba, causing "a large number of US military deaths." The IRGC said
"multiple key facilities and armed helicopters were destroyed" and that
retaliatory operations are ongoing.
