Google's head of AI infrastructure said Wednesday that Google is accelerating the development and rollout of custom chips, changing the cycle of each generation from two years to two or more chips per year, in order to maintain its leading position in the AI race. As global data center capital expenditure continues to grow, AI accelerators are becoming an important part of infrastructure investment.
