The Institute of Physics and Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences said
its researchers have developed an iron‑based alloy substrate for
high‑temperature superconducting (HTS) tape, code‑named DW01, after more than
three years of work. Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co. validated that HTS
tapes produced with the DW01 substrate show key performance metrics markedly
superior to conventional Hastelloy‑based substrates. The institute said the
result represents an important step toward domestic control of core HTS tape
materials.
