G20 innovation ministers met in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on Sept. 1-2; technology and trade ministers from G20 members and guest countries attended. Trade discussions focused on intellectual property policy for AI innovation, coordination between AI and standards, industrial innovation and supply-chain investment. MOFCOM Vice Minister Jiang Chenghua attended and spoke, and held bilateral meetings with US, Brazil, Italy and Russia delegations; Jiang said China views open-source approaches and openness as intrinsic to AI development and an effective way to narrow the digital-intelligence divide, and said China is willing to work with G20 members to build open, inclusive, resilient and sustainable supply chains and share AI development gains.
