The 2026 World Power Battery Conference will be held in Yibin on Sept. 3. Wan
Gang, honorary chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology,
recommended accelerating R&D and industrialization of all‑solid‑state batteries
and encouraging alternative routes such as sodium‑ion cells to improve battery
safety and environmental adaptability. He called for deeper integration of new
energy vehicles and renewable energy, stronger end‑to‑end digital oversight of
battery production, sales, use and recycling to raise material reuse rates, and
stepped‑up international cooperation via platforms like the conference to
co-develop baseline rules, mutual recognition of key data for low-carbon trade,
and coordinated guidance on overseas expansion.
