ByteDance is set to secure a roughly $29.6 bln dollar-denominated syndicated
loan, enlarged from an initial $20 bln plan after strong bank demand. Proceeds
are for general corporate purposes. The transaction has not been signed and
lenders are still confirming allocations. If completed, it would be the
second-largest USD syndicated loan in Asia this year, after SoftBank’s $40 bln
March bridge loan. ByteDance is accelerating AI investment and is considering
raising 2026 capital expenditure to as much as $70 bln—more than double last
year—primarily to expand data centers and other AI infrastructure. Its last
major offshore loan was about $10.8 bln in 2024.
