At the 2026 World Power Battery Conference in Yibin, Sichuan, MIIT Vice Minister
Xiong Jijun said the ministry will boost tech innovation and support upstream
and downstream stakeholders to accelerate R&D and application of
all‑solid‑state, sodium‑ion and lithium‑metal batteries, as well as new material
systems and new process/structure technologies, to raise power-battery energy
density, safety and durability. He also said MIIT will accelerate the
development of standards covering battery safety, cycle life, carbon footprint
and recycling, push alignment with international standards, and strengthen
inspections of implementation to lift quality and competitiveness.
