The ISM services PMI increased to 55.4 from 54.1, above the 54.1 estimate and the highest since February 2026. S&P Global Market Intelligence economist Usamah Bhatti said: "In August US private‑sector activity accelerated, marking a clear pickup in the economy. Supply delays remain elevated, especially for manufacturers, and overall price pressures are still above historical averages."
