Biennale in protest at organizers allowing a Taiwan delegation to use a
designation Beijing says is inconsistent with its status. Spokesperson Guo
Jiakun cited the China–South Korea diplomatic communiqué and noted Seoul has
affirmed its adherence to One China repeatedly this year. China said its embassy
in Seoul has lodged stern representations, demanded an immediate correction, and
accused Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party authorities of politicising
cultural exchanges to advance separatist aims.
