During the 15th Five-Year Plan period China will continue to consolidate the
foundation of universal medical insurance, optimize overall enrollment structure
and expand employee insurance coverage for key groups including flexible
workers, migrant workers and new-form employment. The plan calls for higher
maternity medical protection: direct settlement of insured persons’ maternity
medical expenses and direct payment of maternity allowances to individuals.
Authorities will fully establish a long-term care insurance system, refine
long-term care service policies and push to raise long-term care service
capacity and standards.
