Asian emerging equities rose Friday after comments from Fed Governor Waller
reduced investors’ odds of a September rate hike. MSCI Emerging Asia +1.4%,
poised for its best session in about seven trading days. Singapore’s Straits
Times Index rose as much as 0.9% to a record 5,807.16, led by large-cap banks;
the index is up 1.9% for the week, its strongest weekly gain since early July.
MSCI ASEAN reached a near seven-day high and is up roughly 1% week-to-date.
