DESTATIS said Thursday Germany factory orders rose 2.5% MoM in July, the third
consecutive months to beat expectations; June was revised up to +3.7%. Growth was
driven by large-ticket orders for ships, trains and aircraft; excluding that
category fell orders, led by a decline in autos. The lower-volatility
three-month average shows a similar pattern. Recent indicators point to an
accelerating recovery: exports have improved, the government is committing
hundreds of billions of euros to military and infrastructure upgrades, and firms
are ramping investment in AI. Q2 GDP was revised up to +0.3% from +0.2%, and
confidence measures and August manufacturing readings hit their best levels
since 2022.
