The Arab Gulf States Institute says momentum to build new trade, energy and
logistics infrastructure in the Gulf is likely to continue regardless of
near‑term outcomes of the Iran conflict. Projects aim to bypass the Strait of
Hormuz and include pipelines, rail, roads, ports and new trans‑regional economic
corridors. Robert Mogielnicki, a non‑resident fellow at the institute, said a
westward shift in economic activity should favor Saudi Arabia; the UAE is
developing an east‑facing export and logistics hub, while Oman stands to gain
from transport routes that avoid regional bottlenecks.
