Analyst Lydia DePillis said US local government education payrolls rebounded
from prior declines, adding 42,000 jobs, suggesting the sharp drop earlier this
summer may have been a seasonal-adjustment anomaly. Employment has been
essentially flat since January 2025 as pandemic-era stimulus funding has phased
out of public school budgets.
