Jerry Tempelman, vice president for economics and fixed income research at Mutual of America Capital Management, said August payrolls showed robust gains, led by healthcare and private‑sector hiring, supporting the view that labor demand is adjusting to stagnant labor supply. He added the report did little to alter the prevailing market expectation that the Fed will raise short‑term rates at its September policy meeting.
