Former Reserve Bank of Australia senior official Jonathan Kearns said the RBA is likely to raise rates at its September meeting and that July inflation points to a strong Q3 print. He expects the cash rate to reach about 4.6%—near a 15‑year high—enough to slow growth and pull inflation toward a 2–3% range, and projects house prices will fall roughly 10%. He also noted the RBA’s latest quarterly forecasts still see inflation not returning to the 2.5% midpoint until early 2028.
