An external investigation report published Sept. 4 by Japanese electric motor maker Nidec found widespread falsification across 12 business units and subsidiaries. The committee of external lawyers identified 844 related violations; about 95% involved unauthorized changes to manufacturing processes, product designs or materials without customer consent. Other breaches included fabricated or altered test data and shipping nonconforming products as compliant. The probe followed a falsification scandal first exposed in May.
