A prominent Israeli peace activist has warned that no one in the Israeli government is prepared to retaliate against the extreme policies of far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gwer. Aaron-Lee Green, co-director and founder of the Palestinian-Jewish coalition Standing Together, told Al Jazeera that Israeli politicians are “competing to see who is more extreme and who can win over more right-wing voters.” The activist stated that many opposition figures in Israel will not deviate from current anti-Palestinian policies but are instead trying to compete with the ruling right wing on the question of “who is more right-wing.” Green added that Ben-Gwer is trying to convince people that “more death, more bloodshed, and more abuse” will bring safety to Israeli Jews. He is lying. This will only lead to more violence.
