Iran’s foreign ministry on Saturday condemned a US strike on an Iranian oil
tanker in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, calling it part of a sustained US
military campaign including maritime blockade and economic warfare. Tehran said
the attacks violated Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, posed a clear threat to
international peace and commercial shipping, and vowed to defend its sovereignty
and national interests. The ministry accused the US of "state terrorism" and
warned that the consequences of continued US and allied aggression,
interventionist actions in the region would be borne by the United States and
its partners.
