in-depth research and feasibility studies on restoring Gyirong (Jilong)
border-port functions. Officials cited the Gyirong valley’s favorable terrain,
transport links and border-transit conditions and its historical role as a core
land-trade node on the Tea‑Horse and Tang‑Fan routes linking China and Nepal.
