Transport Minister Dudi said on the 6th that eight Indonesian airports were temporarily closed after an eruption of Anak Krakatoa, disrupting 467 flights — 58 international and 409 domestic. He said closures are to protect flight safety from volcanic ash and that airports will not be forced to reopen while ash continues to spread. He instructed airlines to notify passengers promptly and accurately of cancellations, changes or diversions, to honor refunds, and said some services may be redirected to alternate airports if necessary.
