On the 7th (local time) Iran's intelligence ministry said security forces in Sistan and Baluchestan province in the southeast dismantled three 'terrorist and extremist' cells it said were linked to the US and Israel. The groups were intercepted after entering Iran and before any attacks were launched; security forces killed three suspects and detained nine. The ministry said the detained operatives received foreign military training, had taken part in bombings and assassinations abroad, and sought to foment unrest in southern Iran to undermine regional security.
