Transit through the Strait of Hormuz slowed early this week after Iran on Monday
threatened retaliation for any new US strikes. Kpler shows seven commercial
vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, down from eight the day
before. Iran has warned Gulf energy infrastructure, including US oil and gas
assets, is vulnerable. By contrast, Kpler records traffic through the Bab
al‑Mandeb rising to 29 commercial vessels on Monday from 17 the previous day.
Kpler cautions some ships may transit with AIS switched off and are not included
in the counts.
