Nomura’s monthly China Internet and New Media report: In July, average monthly time spent per user on Douyin exceeded WeChat for the first time, making Douyin the top app in China by time spent. Among the top 50 internet apps, ByteDance’s apps accounted for 40.9% of Chinese netizens’ usage time, up from 33.6% in July last year; Tencent’s apps held 29.1%. Daily active users: WeChat 931 mln, Douyin 714 mln; WeChat DAU +3% YoY, Douyin +19% YoY. Daily time spent per DAU: Douyin ~112–120 minutes, WeChat ~82–85 minutes.
