Nabil Khurry, a former U.S. diplomat and head of the U.S. mission in Yemen, stated that the al-Jawf province, near the Saudi border, is one of the key areas of focus for the Saudi-backed offensive. Khurry said, "This is a logistical corridor for Saudi Arabia to supply support to the Yemeni government. Therefore, they need this corridor. This is not simply a Yemeni civil war, but part of a struggle for regional dominance." He indicated that the Yemeni people could have focused their energy on solving their own numerous problems; however, after more than a decade of civil war, Yemen is still struggling with issues such as "how to govern the country and how to allocate government power and resources." But Khurry pointed out, "This struggle for regional dominance is putting the United States, Israel, and some Gulf states with which it maintains close cooperation in one camp; on the other side is Iran and its so-called 'axis of resistance,' including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis."

Kuwait's crude exports have risen to about 1.0 mln bpd as shipping through the Strait of Hormuz resumes, including ship-to-ship transshipments outside the strait, Kuwait Oil Co. International Marketing MD Sabah said. The company is delivering directly to customers and is using owned and chartered tankers; as more tankers find routes through the strait, exports have recovered to roughly two-thirds of last year's daily average of 1.6 mln bpd after falling to multi-year lows following the outbreak of war between the US and Iran in late February.
