According to Iranian media Fars News, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated in a phone call with the Japanese Foreign Minister that the current regional tensions are due to the United States' breach of its commitments. He pointed out that the solution is simple: the United States should return to and abide by its commitments in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which will create conditions for a return to normalcy. The Iranian Foreign Minister also mentioned that negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz have made significant progress, and the two sides are discussing the establishment of a temporary passage route.
The Japanese Foreign Minister also expressed concern about the escalating regional tensions, emphasizing the importance of continuing diplomatic consultations and coordination to ensure regional security and free and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
