Iran's foreign minister told Japan's foreign minister that current regional
tensions are caused by the US breaching its commitments and said the US should
return to and comply with the Islamabad memorandum. He said talks with Oman on
the Strait of Hormuz has made significant progress and the two sides are
discussing a temporary transit route. Japan's foreign minister expressed concern
about rising tensions and urged continued diplomatic coordination to ensure
regional security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
