Nabil Huri, former US diplomat and head of the US mission to Yemen, said al-Jawf
province on the Saudi border is a key focus of a Saudi-backed offensive because
it functions as a logistics corridor to the internationally recognized Yemeni
government. Huri warned the fighting is not solely a Yemeni civil war but part
of a broader regional contest that aligns the US, Israel and some Gulf states
against Iran and its allied "axis of resistance", including Hamas, Hezbollah and
the Houthi movement.
