CHINA congratulated Burnham on taking office and described China-UK ties as a comprehensive strategic partnership, saying shared interests outweigh differences and both sides should strengthen mutual respect and cooperation. CHINA said both governments are committed to economic development and improving livelihoods and indicated it will further open education, healthcare and financial sectors to foreign access during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, naming these as priority areas for bilateral cooperation. CHINA urged the UK to fully protect Chinese investors’ lawful rights. Both agreed to deepen coordination within the UN, G20 and WTO, and to support multilateralism, open trade and an orderly, inclusive multipolar world.
